Central Texas grows a lot of good things: bluebonnets, musicians, and wineries, to list a few. The region also boasts a slew of children's writers, four of whom will be featured at Explore UT's Books for Kids event on Saturday March 7.
For those who haven't been to Explore UT, billed as "The Biggest Open House in Texas," it's a kid- and family-oriented day of arts, science, engineering and pretty much everything else you can imagine. The UT Libraries are particpating with readings by area authors Brian Anderson, Jane Peddicord, Liz Garton Scanlon and Chris Barton (who just happens to be my husband).
There's something for every little explorer, from the readings to a children's festival to marching with the Longhorn band. So check out the attractions schedule, round up the kids or grandkids and make a day of it.
