Staff Picks: Our Valentine Wish List

Vintage Valentine postcard

In honor of our fabulous February issue, our magazine staff brainstormed inspired options for Cupid's list. We came up with terrific food, fantastic getaway options and, of course, jewelry!

Fine Dining

Whether it’s steak (Roaring Fork) or fish (Wildfish Seafood Grill), it’s hard to beat the Eddie V’s Restaurant family. Looking for something low key and off-the-beaten path? Editorial coordinator Pamela Price hears wonderful things about Grey Moss Inn, which is on her must visit list this year.

All That Glitters

We were all in agreement that anything in Tiffany’s signature blue box is worth having, but a couple of us are especially fond of Green Bull Jewelry’s series of handmade crosses. Ruth Caron, our office manager, is also fond of the Austin Bracelet available from Benold’s Jewelry. And while they wouldn’t glitter, the custom boots that writer/blogger Beth Goulart desires sound divine. “Really soft-yet-durable leather in a wonderful color, perhaps a deep pink or red that looked brown until you got up-close,” says Goulart. “A little stitching, but not too much. Just the right amount of point and the perfect height for my legs, alone. And the right heel! That's so important. There's something magic in heel height and shape."

Big Night Away

Our national sales manager, Randy Dye, suggests an evening at The Stoneleigh Hotel, the oldest hotel in Dallas that also features a romance package. “I spent my wedding night at this property and it is fine!” Or, if you prefer to stay closer to home, Dye suggests The Valencia Hotel in either Houston or San Antonio. He’s also fond of Cibolo Creek Ranch. “This place is all Texas and perfect for a unique getaway that you will not forget,” he says.
